About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Logistics Manager to take overall responsibility, answering to Board level for the Company’s national transport operation, providing leadership and direction for the existing transport department.

About you

  • You will ideally hold a Level 3 Certificate of Professional Competence for Transport Managers (Road Haulage) or equivalent.
  • Have previous experience of working within the fleet management industry in a similar role, with ideally a minimum of 3 years’ hands-on experience operating as an accountable operational Transport Manager or relevant role within this industry.
  • Be commercially and financially aware, with experience in buying and placing purchase orders.
  • Be able to confidently communicate with drivers, colleagues, and suppliers; both verbally and written with good customer service skills.
  • Be able to efficiently utilise computer systems and software applications.
  • Be able to successfully manage time and keep calm under pressure.
  • Be a proactive person and seek to prevent problems occurring or solve them once occurred.
  • Be flexible to the business needs and be available out of hours for telephone support in the event of an operational emergency.


Key responsibilities

As the Logistics Manager you will work with our existing transport team and be responsible for the management of our fleet, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation. You will manage servicing and maintenance of all vehicles, procurement, insurance policies and insurance claims.

Manage and build relationships with our suppliers to ensure we receive excellent service as well as ensuring they are commercially competitive.

You will also manage the transport team, ensuring that routine checks on vehicles and drivers are carried out, maintaining compliance with transport law.

Maintaining FORS standards and quality and environmental standards will also be a key aspect of the role.
