MEMS Volunteers Spruce Up Demelza’s Gardens in Kent

MEMS Volunteers Help Revitalise Gardens at Demelza in Kent

Eight dedicated team members from MEMS Power Generation recently had the honour of volunteering at Demelza, a remarkable charity based in Kent. The team spent the day in the grounds and the Garden of Tranquillity, contributing to its upkeep and general maintenance. As proud sponsors of Demelza, we are committed to making a meaningful impact in our local community.

The Heart of Demelza
Nestled in the South East of England, Demelza is more than just a charity. It’s a lifeline for families navigating the complexities of life-altering diagnoses, providing extraordinary care to children facing serious or life-limiting conditions. With a reach extending from Kent to South East London and East Sussex, Demelza offers a comprehensive support system, including clinical care, emotional guidance, and practical assistance. Demelza stands as a beacon of hope, guiding families through challenging times and helping them create precious memories.

Rolling Up Sleeves and Digging In
Upon arrival, our team was greeted with warm smiles and a cup of tea. Then, it was time to get to work. Armed with gloves, trowels, and a sense of purpose, our team members rolled up their sleeves and got stuck into a variety of activities aimed at rejuvenating the gardens. MEMS volunteers tackled everything from de-weeding to general garden maintenance. Tom and Andrew, in particular, took a shine to the leaf blowers, making quick work of clearing pathways.

Kelly Long, MEMS Marketing Manager, shared her thoughts on the day: “We had a great day at Demelza. The staff there are brilliant and appreciative of what we could do. We were all glad to have had the opportunity to go and help; it was a pleasure helping out there.”

Louise Earl, Corporate Partnerships Account Manager at Demelza, also expressed her gratitude: “Thank you so much for joining us! We are so grateful for your amazing support and can’t wait to welcome you back! It rained most of the day, and you always had smiles on your faces! What you did today will make a big difference to our families. THANK YOU.”

The Lasting Impact
As the day drew to a close, it was evident that the experience was about more than just volunteering; it was a heart-warming experience that left a lasting impact on our team. And as our team left Demelza, we carried with us not just muddy boots but also the satisfaction of knowing we’d made a real difference. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Demelza and contributing to the incredible work they do.
